Join the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in its 39th celebration of its Human Rights Awards.

This year’s Human Rights Awards Dinner theme is “Uniting for Equal Justice and Power.” A buffet dinner will be served at 5:30 PM. and the program will begin at 7:00 PM.

Keynote Speaker – Bill Fletcher, Jr.
Longtime labor, racial justice and international activist.  Former Assistant to the President of the AFL‑CIO.  Past president of TransAfrica Forum and a founder of the Black Radical Congress.  Editor and columnist for BlackCommentator.com.  Co‑author with Fernando Gaspasin of Solidarity Divided, The Crisis in Organized Labor and a New Path Toward Social Justice.

Emcee – Toussaint Losier
PhD Candidate in the History Department, University of Chicago and a leader in the Anti-Eviction Campaign.

2012 Human Rights Award Recipients

Dara Cooper, Senior Project Manager of Fresh Moves, a promoter of the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables  in the Lawndale and Austin communities of Chicago.
Clarice Durham, Co-Chair of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
Laurie Jo Reynolds, Organizer of Tamms Year Ten, a project that calls for the closing of that prison.
Frank Rosen, Outstanding labor leader and advocate for human rights.
