Better Government Association: Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Awards for Investigative Reporting
On May 1, the Better Government Association will be hosting an awards reception for recipients of the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Awards in Investigative Reporting. The event, honoring distinguished Chicago-area journalists working in the public interest, will include a beer and wine social and an awards ceremony, concluding with a performance by Chicago blues artist Lynne Jordan & the Shivers.
Most notably, the gathering will feature a conversation with celebrated whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg, whose courage not only brought to light gross malfeasance in the prosecution of the Vietnam War, but also inspired the act of conscience by Edward Snowden in his disclosure of NSA documents decades later. Ellsberg is also an author on national security topics, and continues to contribute valuable insight to public discourse.
Tickets for the event are $25, and can be purchased on the Better Government Association’s website here.
