CCDBR: FOIA Workshop

On July 14, the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights will host a workshop to teach participants how to navigate and file requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The training session, which is free and open to the public, will be hosted by local activist Matt Chapman and attorney Dan Massoglia.

The training will start with a presentation on the techniques for writing effective and targeted FOIA requests, and the basic legal approaches for ensuring that submissions are properly addressed. Following the presentation, attendees are invited to share their ideas for prospective FOIA submissions and receive pointers from the presenters in an interactive workshop segment. The workshop portion is open to all session participants regardless of their level of experience and familiarity with the FOIA process.

The training will take place in Room 520 of the IIT Chicago-Kent School of Law building.
