Families Belong Together: Chicago March
In protest against the Trump administration’s cruel policy of detaining asylum-seeking families, who often present themselves at ports of entry in compliance with US asylum law, a coalition of civil rights and progressive organizations will be hosting marches in Chicago on June 30, 2018. Coordinated jointly by the Women’s March, MoveOn, Vote Latino, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and many others, the demonstrations will be held in solidarity with a march on the White House taking place concurrently.
The march will be held at Daley Plaza. An additional number of solidarity events will simultaneously take place in Chicago suburbs, in tandem with those in states across the country. The movement to end the Trump administration detention of migrant families, under the banner of “Families Belong Together,” is also collecting signatures for a petition to be presented to the Department of Homeland Security and to both chambers of Congress.
