Pozen Family Center for Human Rights: Defending Human Rights in Times of Constitutional Crises

On May 18 and 19, the University of Chicago Pozen Family Center for Human Rights will be hosting a conference to explore the challenges young democratic states face in preserving human rights through periods in which constitutional protections are challenged or eroded. The event, “Defending Human Rights in Times of Constitutional Crises,” will include presentations and panel discussions on the dynamics between executive power and legal protections of civil liberties, particularly by examining the current weakening of constitutional constraints in Poland as a case study.

Events throughout the conference will feature academics and experts from leading institutions around the country. For more information, visit the event page for the conference here, or the Pozen Family Center’s website here. Inquiries can also be directed to the Pozen Family Center by telephone at 773-834-0957.
