Speaker on Combating Islamophobia
You are invited to a brown bag luncheon on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Noon at 8th Day Center for Justice to hear from Lynne Jackson one of the founders of Project SALAM.
Project SALAM, an internet group that believes many innocent Muslims were targeted, prosecuted, and convicted in the hysteria following 9/11 and the Bush Administration’s violations of the US Constitution. The organization’s mission is to identify as many of these cases as possible, to advocate for their release, and to make sure that their names and the injustices against them are not forgotten.
Lynne has led the effort to build a local Chicago offshoot—SALAM Illinois – to focus specifically on the Muslim prisoners held in the penitentiaries at Marion, IL, and Terre Haut, IN – many of whom are held in severe conditions in “communications Management Unites (CMUs).
Please RSVP to Thursday, March 7, to Kathleen – kathleend8@gmail.com or to Mary Kay – marykayfr@gmail.com so we can save a chair for you!
