Loyola University Chicago School of Law: Symposium 2012—Forcing the Agenda: Provoking Policy Reform through Legal Action and Community Collaboration

Attorneys throughout the country utilize legal methods as effective tools to address societal issues and achieve positive systemic change, but change does not happen through lawyers alone. The Public Interest Law Reporter is pleased to present this one-day symposium that will highlight the necessity of multidisciplinary collaboration between lawyers and community organizers to create successful reform in a wide variety of issues facing our nation. The symposium will focus on three key areas: police torture, healthcare, and housing. Through innovative speakers and compelling panelists, the 2012 PILR Symposium will offer an opportunity for provocative analysis and discussion of how the law and community activism, when paired together, can perpetuate lasting systemic reform to improve the lives of those most at risk of civil rights violations.
