Back of the Throat — Theater party

BACK OF THE THROAT   Theater Party

Sunday matinee,  4 P.M., 21 May, 2006
Silk Road Theatre, Chicago Temple (First United Methodist Church)
77 W. Washington St.    (lower level theatre, Pierce Hall)

The midwest premiere of a play, by Yussef el Guindi, which depicts a chilling visit to an Arab-American man by federal investigators; the “meeting”  becomes a full-fledged investigation of “terrorist” ties.

The play examines how notions of cultural “otherness” (including the pronunciation of Arabic at “the back of the throat”) affect the relationship between accusers and accused.
