Occupy Chicago, organizers of the May anti-NATO protests in Chicago and defenders of civil liberties are assembling a coalition of individuals and organizations from around Chicago and the nation.
We seek:
In the run-up to the NATO summit in Chicago, undercover police officers infiltrated activist circles in an attempt to entrap activists and discredit the protest movement. There are currently five activists facing terrorism-related charges as a result of police informants—even though the only terrorists in Chicago that weekend were the generals and heads of state behind NATO’s military endeavors.
Unless and until a campaign is mobilized to defend activists from such repression, the government and law enforcement will continue to try to discredit and derail our movements. We need to stand together in order to oppose the government’s attempts to suppress our First Amendment rights to speech and assembly.
We need your ideas, energy and creativity to make this campaign a success. Now is the time to get involved.
