From Chicago Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society (received via National Lawyers Guild Chicago):

“The Chicago Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, Center for Constitutional Rights, Chicago Appleseed Fund For Justice, Chicago Council of Lawyers and Union League Club of Chicago present:

Forum on the Forgotten Guantanamo Detainees

  • Omar Farah, Staff Attorney, Guantanamo Global Justice Initiative, Center for Constitutional Rights

And moderated by:

  • Patricia A. Bronte, Attorney, Bronte Law LLC

This program will focus on half of the men still detained at Guantánamo. For at least three years, these eighty-six men have been cleared for release by unanimous agreement of the nation’s top intelligence, national security, law enforcement and military officials, yet taxpayers continue to spend $70 million per year to keep the detainees imprisoned. The panelists will also address the detainees’ efforts to obtain habeas corpus relief in the federal courts and Congressional restrictions on the release of these men. A question and answer session will follow the discussion.”
