Join us for a discussion featuring the mothers of torture survivors Jeanette Plummer, Amanda Shackelford, Carol Johnson and Bertha Escamilla.
Professor Adam Green, from the University of Chicago and author of Selling the Race: Culture and Community in Black Chicago, will provide an overview of the history of police torture in Chicago, followed by a panel discussion with mothers of torture survivors on the impact that torture has had on their families and their communities. Q & A will follow their presentations.
